How to choose a phone tripod for recording videos
Stability, height, mounting and portability: practical checks before buying a phone tripod.
Check the type of shot
For desk tutorials and overhead videos, look for a stable tabletop stand or an arm mount that can point downward. For standing shots, check the actual maximum camera height rather than the length of the folded tripod.
Stability matters more than height
A wide footprint and secure leg locks help prevent vibration. If you record outside, consider wind and uneven floors. A lightweight travel tripod may be convenient but less steady at full extension.
Check phone fit
Compare the mount opening with your phone width including its case. A standard 1/4-inch thread may help you reuse the tripod with other cameras or lights; check the product specifications first.
Before you order
Check the return policy, supported weight, maximum and minimum height, mounting angle, and whether a phone clamp is actually included. Avoid assuming a remote shutter works with every phone.
